In conjunction with the Chilligum Preschool we offer orientation activities in Terms 2, 3 and 4, providing a wide range of experiences for children prepraing to enrol in Kindergarten. These experiences vary according to class programs and the preschool calendar of activities.
During Term 3, we visit the preschoolers as Buddy Readers. Knidergarten are busting to show-off their newly acquired reading skills to their friends and younger siblings. Bursting with pride they take a range of their favourite books, and stories they've written to read.
The formal Kindergarten Orientation is conducted over four weeks in Term 4, including a parent information session. All students are welcome to participate in this program, regardless if they have attended Preschool, or not.
Parents and caregivers bring their children to the K/1/2 classroom and return at 11.00am to collect them at 12:30pm. Preschoolers sit and eat recess with the students and then join in play.
During each session the children will have a range of activities across all Key Learning Areas enabling the early Childhood Teacher to observe and discover each child's strengths.
