Student Portal Access

Students can access the Department's Student Portal from home so we will now walk you through the steps. Please note that students in Years 3/4/5/6 are quite familiar with these steps as they are using the portal during class.

  1. Now you're on the the Chillingham website  (Google Chrome is best for some sites that we reference).
  2. On the top right hand corner of the homepage you will see the words 'Log in' with a dropdown menu option of 'Student Portal'.
  3. You will then be taken to the portal 'sign in page'. Use you student portal username and password (previously sent home) to log in.
  4. Once logged in, students will be able to edit their page and calendars, search the internet via google, access emails and open a number of games and website which the Department have put up.
  5. On the right side of the page there is a section which says 'My bookmarks'. Here we have two links for students to access. one is StudyLadder (a free website) and one is Typing Tournament (a site for which we have a yearly pays subscription).
  6. Click on a link and enter your unique username and password for that chosen site (sent home earlier).

For some useful tips and a comprehensive guide to healthy 'time online' please head to the Australian Government's eSafety Commissioner site https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/bigissues/time-online

Mrs Suzy Mason

WARNING about Houseparty site.

As with all online activity, students need adult supervision.

Some issues surrounding this site (and similar chatrooms) are:

  1. The recommended age is 13 years - there is no age verification AT ALL.
  2. It's free to use; therefore images, recordings and other information about the children can be data harvested.
  3. Offering 'friend suggestions' is a HUGE RED FLAG on any site.

And so the list goes on. The eSafety site above offers parents excellent tips and advice.

Be vigilant and keep your children safe online.
