Our Principal, Mrs Roach, has created the Bee theme across all aspects of student wellbeing and behaviour management. Over time it has been refined; and with consistency across all staff, it has proven to be an excellent wellbeing approach in our small school setting.
Despite our strong positive wellbeing program; it is a learning process, and inevitably sometimes students make some poor choices. Managing students' behaviour is also linked to our Bee theme and when required a Beehaviour Book is set up for those students.
This program is based on a restitutional justice approach to managing student behaviour, requiring students to complete a reflection in their own time, as seen below.
Often the student chooses to write an apology or remove themselves from play depending on the situation. Generally their consequences are appropriate, sometimes even harsher than the teacher may issue.
